How do i factory reset my Harman Kardon avr 55 receiver

Troubleshooting Guide

Processor Reset
In the rare case where the unit's operation or
the displays seem abnormal, the cause may
involve the erratic operation of the system's
memory or microprocessor.
To correct this problem, first unplug the unit
from the AC wall outlet and wait at least three
minutes. After the pause, reconnect the AC
power cord and check the unit's operation. If
the system still malfunctions, a system reset
may clear the problem.
To clear the AVR 520's entire system memory
including tuner presets, output level settings delay times and speaker configuration data,
first put the unit in Standby by pressing the
System Power Control button 2. Next,
press and hold the Tone Mode 8 and the
FM Mode Selector ^ buttons for three
seconds.
The unit will turn on automatically and display
the RESET message in the Main
Information Display Y. Note that once you
have cleared the memory in this manner, it is
necessary to reestablish all system configuration
settings and tuner presets.

4gb RAM only 2gb usable. Very slow new unit. How do I get the 4gb working.

Please check the system usable memory in BIOS. You can define the share pattern of graphics memory & system memory according to your usage. Also check your operating system; Only 64bit operating systems will support more than 3GB

What kind of memory for upgrade in 4go

Hi there,

If you look on Crucials website (they make and supply memory) they have some handy tools to work out which type of memory to install. They also have a neat system scanner to work out what system you are running (in case you are unaware) and match up the relevant memory to your system.

Go here and click the System Scanner download button:

I've purchused a 8gb sony sd memory card and when

It may not be formatted in a compatible format supported by your BOSS Audio system. Check the owner's manual of the unit,it should indicate which format it will support. Copy the data currently on the memory card back to a file on your PC/Laptop and reformat the card to match your BOSS unit. Have you tried other memory cards? It is also possible that the card has too large a capacity for the BOSS unit. T

Can i buy and install my own memory upgrade? if so what are size and compatibility issues to avoid? thanks

Toshiba Satellite A135-S2356 has a maximum of 2GB which can be installed in the maximum 2 memory Slots in the memory compartment: 2 X 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 SODIMM (200 pins) memory stick.
Note that in general, especially for older laptops, that you should not mix different size/brand of memory stick as the unit may even fail to boot or can behave erractically (reboots or system freezes).
Hope it helps.

Trying to boot up my Windows XP PC - Vaio. Getting error messages that virtual memory is too low, then when I click that away, the screen is just black and I can move the cursor around, but that's it.

If you have at the least 512m of RAM, your laptop should boot without any virtual memory. Anyway, virtual memory is a method of using your hard drive to function as RAM, though much slower. When you have very little RAM, say less than 128m, and without enough hard drive space, you system will not boot.

If you have 512m of RAM or more, your problem maybe more complex to resolve. How much RAM do you have? How big is your drive?

What you need to do next depends on how much RAM you have.
