mode it doesn't run the antivirus program. If you have your harddisk of IDE type then connect your friend's hard disk in your PC as a Slave and Yours as a master. You can do this from your bios setup.
bios settings and try changing the sata mode to either IDE or AHCI. then see what happens after saving changes and rebooting again. otherwise clarify your problem so as to make it easy to help you out

???? Are you installing it on laptop?? If it is, try check your BIOS settings on the SATA mode option if available.. usually it is either ACHI or IDE. try to change it and try to install your xp again
