Charger will not charge radio, has red blinking light

If the radio will charge on one charger and not the other, the one with the blinking light is bad or has a dirty or defective battery contact. Check your charger for debris and clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser and try charging again. If this fails, replace your charger. Best regards.

How to wire an Astatic D104 Silver eagle to a Kennwood 8 pin mic plug

Wiring an Astatic D104 Silver Eagle microphone to a Kenwood 8-pin mic plug requires matching the correct wires to the appropriate pins. Here's a step-by-step guide: ### Materials Needed - Astatic D104 Silver Eagle microphone - Kenwood 8-pin mic plug - Soldering iron and solder - Wire strippers - Small screwdriver - Multimeter (optional) ### Steps 1. **Identify the Wires on the Astatic D104:** - **Shield (ground)** - **White (audio)** - **Red (transmit)** - **Blue (receive)** - **Black (PTT switch ground)** 2. **Kenwood 8-Pin Mic Plug Pinout:** - **Pin 1:** Mic Audio - **Pin 2:** PTT (Transmit) - **Pin 3:** Down (optional for up/down buttons) - **Pin 4:** Up (optional for up/down buttons) - **Pin 5:** Mic Ground (common) - **Pin 6:** PTT Ground - **Pin 7:** (often unused, sometimes 5V) - **Pin 8:** (often unused, sometimes 8V) 3. **Wiring Connections:** ' Astatic D104 Wire ' Kenwood Pin ' '-------------------'-------------' ' Shield (ground) ' Pin 5 ' ' White (audio) ' Pin 1 ' ' Red (transmit) ' Pin 2 ' ' Black (PTT ground)' Pin 6 ' 4. **Soldering:** - Strip the ends of the wires from the Astatic D104. - Tin the wires by applying a small amount of solder to the exposed wire ends. - Solder each wire to the appropriate pin on the Kenwood 8-pin plug according to the table above. - Make sure to avoid creating any solder bridges between pins. 5. **Assemble the Mic Plug:** - Carefully reassemble the mic plug casing, ensuring no wires are pinched or shorted. - Double-check the connections to ensure they are secure and correctly matched. 6. **Testing:** - Reconnect the microphone to the Kenwood radio. - Test the microphone for proper operation, including audio transmission and PTT functionality. ### Notes: - If you experience any issues, use a multimeter to check for continuity and ensure that all connections are properly made. - Some variations in wiring might exist based on specific models or configurations, so refer to any documentation or schematics you have for both the microphone and radio. If you're uncertain or not experienced with soldering and wiring, it might be a good idea to seek help from a professional or someone experienced in radio equipment.

Kenwood TS-430s FM 430 board keys up but no modulation

First, clean all the connectors associated with this board. Over time they can get corrosion built up on them and they stop conducting. Use De-OXIT or Isopropyl alcohol to clean them. You may have to clean the deviation control on the board or replace C* and C10. I doubt if the microphone amplifier, Q1, is bad but if you can check the voltages around it, that might give you a clue. This problem shouldn't be too hard to fix as the rest of the radio is working. Programming a TK-5320 using KPG-112DN V.2.20 keep getting "LOC" in display before the name of the channel.

Yes, radio. Check your cable. Is it OEM? Try plugging it into the radio before launching the software. Then try after launching the software. Is it a USB or Serial cable? If serial, the USB adapters often do not work. I have one brand of radio where I need to restart the computer each time I program so it will read the Serial to USB correctly. Even then, I may need to go into device manager and enable/disable it 2-5 times. I do not know if the software is the latest, but if a radio is programmed with the newest software, you cannot go back to an older version 90% of the time.

I kenwood TK-2000 radios. when I read the radio, all the frequencies listed are vhf frequencies.but when I program a vhf frequency it says it is out of band it can only accept 400 to 440 mhz.

Based on the information you provided, it seems like the Kenwood TK-2000 radios you have may have been programmed with the wrong band split. The TK-2000 is available in both VHF and UHF frequency ranges, and it's possible that the radios you have are actually UHF models, despite being listed as VHF frequencies when you read the radios. To check if your radios are UHF or VHF, look for a label on the back of the radio that specifies the frequency range. If it says UHF, then the radios can only accept frequencies in the 400-440 MHz range. If it says VHF, then the radios should be able to accept frequencies in the VHF frequency range. If you've confirmed that the radios are indeed VHF models, then it's possible that the band split settings may need to be adjusted in the programming software to match the specific VHF frequencies you're trying to program. I recommend checking the manual for your programming software to ensure that you have selected the correct band split settings before programming the radios. If you're still having issues, it may be helpful to contact Kenwood customer support for further assistance.

Any idea to why my Kenwood TK-2360 FM Transceiver fully charged has a loud audible noise when turned on accompanied with a flashing red/orange light.

There are a lot of programmable features on that radio. The radio may have a battery that is failing and that could emit a tone, it may have lost the programming that it was set to. Etc. The best bet would be to contact a dealer or service center.

I have a Kenwood Protalk LT radio. Can hear others speaking clearly but they can not hear me. When press PTT and speak, red light goes on but no one can hear me. I have reset it but no luck fixing

Try opening it up carefully and checking for lose connections, especially the microphone. On second thought most radio communication devices don't allow you to do that so it may be difficult. To test and see if it's the microphone and not the transmitter circuit listen to another radio while you press the button if you hear static or a small pop that means it should be an easy fix if you can get inside. Also what kind of things have you tried already?

Where do I connect the output from a ctcss board on a kenwood tr9130?

You can connect it to the MIC input through a 10K resistor. That's the easy way. https://www.mods.dk/manual.php?brand=kenwood has a better method. Go to this website and look for the TR-9130 area and you'll find several files.
