Gas water heater keeps keeps lighting and shutting

You did not mention if your water ever gets up to temperature or not. If this is happening more than once per hour, you have a bad thermostat (SP11652B or SP10886B or SP11652C or SP10886C all depends on year and gas type) and it will have to be replaced. It could also be a bad pressure/vacuum switch PN# SP11875. Try and tap on the side of the thermostat to see if it stops.

Only 2 of the 4 burners will lite...cleaned

A dirty flame tray. There is either a small tray between the burner tubes or holes at 3 and 9 O'Clock on the burners themselfs that help spread the flame from burner to burner. Pull out all burners and with a paper clip, clean out all the holes. Look at the base where the burners go for a trough. This also must be clean and free of debris. If there is an air shutter, make sure it is most of the way open to supply secondary air to the burner. Once you get all burners to light, you may have to adjust the air shutters to give you the blue flame with tips of orange/yellow. If this does not work, replace all the burners as a set.

My Ruud silhouette II some times will not operate.

4 Blinks is an error code of a sticking pressure switch. A pressure switch is a safety, which in this case is being used to verify that your furnace is drafting properly. Yours in particular is sticking in the closed position even after the call for heat is satisfied. The control board checks to make sure the switch is open the next time there is a call for heat, and when it sees that the pressure switch is already closed even before the draft inducer motor comes on, it knows there is a problem....hence the error code. If you tap on the pressure switch, it may cause the contacts to open. Usually you will see a rubber hose attached to the pressure switch and 2 or three wires depending on what type of switch it is. You will probably have to replace the switch, but maybe this will get you thru the night. Hope this helps!

220v at compressor. checked internal and it had

Good you have eliminated one test, an important one too by saying, after checking it that no amp means no current is flowing, but it's LIVE. For any electrical device to work consumes energy(wattage) If voltage is correct but NO current is being drawn

This, to have already established this fact ------ the deduction is that the circuit is open, incidentally the live wire is showing connectivity, therefore the neutral is not letting the A/c consume any current and it will not complete the circuit .

This is possible if the fuse is on the neutral wire & whatever be the fault, it will not blow, Hence check if the manual defrost button is still depressed( if it has one).

The other is the thermostat which is responsible to complete the circuit. It turns on & off due the thermostat(say for eg a bi-metallic strip with with diff kind of metal which when warmer than the setting, will turn the circuit ON, but as it gets colder due the different coefficient of expansion & contraction, and the strip will work as a ON OFF switch..

Thus replace the thermostat and get it working again. All the best

sodeep

Have a Ruud Achiever Model number UAKA-037JAZ that

try spinning by hand when the unit make the buzzing sound. to see if the capacitor is bad. If the fan runs replace the cap. If not motor probably is bad. See if it spins freely. this is a good starting place. need to check if the buzzing is the contactor and there is no power to the condensor. The contactor will buzz even though the main breaker is off or tripped

Air conditioning unit

Have someone turn the thermostat to fan on. stand by the air handler. listen for a click. There is a fan relay or a stack switch both click when power is sent to them .
If you do hear a click that is good. should be good part.
No click means the relay or stack switch may be bad.
also look at the capicator. it's a little silver oblong or round component with 2 wires to treminals on the end. These wires are usually brown. The top of the capicator where the wires attach should be flat. if it is a little rounded the cap is bad.
If the cap is good and the relay is good.
SECURE POWER to the Air Handler. At the breakers
touch the side of the motor. BE CAREFUL it could burn.
touch lightly... if real hot motor is more than likely bad.
The Motor has the specks on the side of it. and can be read after the motor is removed.
Two screws must be removed to remove motor.
If you must disconnect wires to remove. write down where they connect and there colors Before disconnecting.
Good luck

A/C quit running

This question is really to broad to answer. There are several things that could cause it to stop running. I think I would turn everything off, let it cool down for several hours and try it again. When you kick it back on, take note of what is running and what's not running. Inside fan, outside fan, compressor. If the outside unit will not run at all it could be as simple as a grasshopper caught in the contacts. If you hear the compressor running outside but no outside fan, The fan motor probably needs replaced. Please make sure that all power to the unit is TURNED OFF before removing cover plates on outside unit and before trying to remove insects from contact points. Check all wiring inside outside unit while it is open. Also check capacitors for swelling or leaking. If you don't know how to turn all the power off or open the outside unit, you need to call a professional AC technician. Hope this helps. kstfas
