I washed my v176 accidentally - I didnt dry it though - I am drying it out after slightly dismantling it - the battery AND phone have the red dot, none are white - would it even be worth it to try and turn it on after I have dried it out? - it almost doesnt sound like it

The white sticker is a witness hint for repairman & service dealers warning them about shorted (and overheating) battery before going any further beyond there.
If you washed and dryied your cell phone you can use it as a good projectile for any big dog jeopardizing you, as a paper holding block in windy environment desks or, in a couple years, as an antiqe and ancient valuable collector piece.

I apologize for my rather ironical answer. I just what I did with you and please acept my apologies. Nowadays I can assure you that you could change to a brand new baterry and check whether it functions as you wanted. I hope you forgive me and feel free of making any otrer question. Ricardo

I sold a phone on ebay cuz it had water damage and the guy said he got it going pretty quickly. when i asked how he fixed it he said he put it in the oven for 15 minutes at 125 to 150 degrees. sounds odd but when i tried it on my husband's slobbered (by the baby) phone it worked great!

I was washing my car one day and my VX9800 fell in the wash bucket, I thought for sure it would be shot. Luckily I pulled it out dried it with a towel then set it by the fire place to dry. That was about 6 months ago. my phone still works ok. Has its issues sometimes. The white dot is reddish-pink and the "g" doesnt work right all the time. otherwise. it was worth it to dry it out. So try it and see if it still works.

The white dot is an indicator for service techs to see if a phone has been water or liquid damaged at a glance.
if the dot is red then they won't touch it under warranty.
any repairs they try they will charge for and there is no Gaurantee

The little round sticker is a trigger to tell the technicians that you got it wet. Good luck cuz techs don't like wet phones; you're prolly screwed!

When it come to water damage, and over heat. you have to take it to someone who can tell you the extent of the damage. most likely your going to ghave to replace the phone since it went through that punishment.

Your phone battery shorted out. Just replace the battery and it should work. However, the phone also has been water-damaged, so I can't guarantee on how long your phone will work. Most phones will develop problems over time after they've been water-damaged, so you should keep that in mind. Also, the white dots on the phone and battery are liquid indicators. They indicate if the phone has been wet by changing colors. Ex: White to red. This is usually for warranty purposes as phone companies won't fix a phone that's been water-damaged.

The white dot is litmus paper. Measures acidity. When wet it turns pink, that way they know if you got your phone wet or not.

If the phone still functions fully even when plugged in to your charger you are really lucky, however it seems you have very bad water damage to your battery, the only thing you can do is get a new battery i recommend eBay they have the cheapest prices

Most new cell phone batteries have a little white round sticker located on the outer side and also another one attached to the phone, usually found underneath where the battery rests. I'm not sure on the technical specs off this round white sticker, but when I shorted my battery out and it was no longer usable, the round white dot turned red. The white sticker on my phone stayed white. I replaced the battery and my phone worked normally again.
