The E4 error code is a result of a malfunctioning defrost sensor. If the error code is on the right then it is the defrost sensor in the upper chamber.

Attached is a link to Avanti service and parts. Provide them with the model number of your wine cellar and they will be able to provide you with a price and information on the part needed for repair.

F7 Function key stuck on ERC
F8 ERC Board failure
F9 Oven door lock failure

Microwave and Microwave combo error codes:

F1 - E3 or F1 - E4 Electronic control malfunction

F2 - E0 or F2 - E1 Keypad connection error

F2 - E3 Keypad held down too long, or keypad is shorted.

If you get an error code, try first resetting the code:
1. Disconnect power for about two minutes.
2. Connect back power.
3. If code re-appears, test and eventually replace faulty part.

Cook's essential pressure cooker has an E4 error. Tried everything and cannot get the unit to start
Make sure the inner container is dry... plug he unit off then on again.

Eventually, the "E4" display would appear. I determined the steam vent valve (loose piece) was not seated on the vent hole in the cover so the pressure never built up. I removed the loose piece which consists of a metal cylinder and a black plastic cover with a handle.

My Kenwood Dishwasher shows an E4 error code
Howdy:) An E4 or E5 error indicate an abnormal water level which means too much inlet water. Here is the shortcut to the Kenwood PDF file with the user's manuals.

What does error message F5 mean?
There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing..

I'm not finding the one for for this model online.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If it's a convection model, F5 would be a damper door sensing error, which is usually a bad switch.

More info on switches is here.

One of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

If it's not a convection model, F5 is probably a sensor error.

On some models, "SENSOR ERROR" appears on the display when:
  • Using the sensor feature, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.
  • Steam was not detected in the maximum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time.
Here's some info from Samsung, which is the actual manufacturer of these ovens:

"Some models are equipped with a sensor that can automatically adjust the oven's heating time based on the amount of steam in the oven. If your microwave is displaying E1, E4, or E5, there may be an issue with the gas sensor. For an E1 error, press the Cancel button and check on the food.

"Other microwaves do not give specific error messages and just display "8888" on the LED. If you get this error message, your microwave needs service.

"If the message is either ERROR or E-6, it indicates a mechanical fault.

"For all error indications, including the SE or 5E error, try unplugging the microwave from the outlet for at least ten minutes and then plug it back in. If the error persists, the microwave may require service. Please use our ASC Locator to find your nearest Authorized Service Center."

E4 message and what to do to clear it
That may be it. In some cases you can clean them, but if it has become brittle, it may snap. But it's worth a try.

First of all, I'd try a cold reset by unplugging the oven for afew minutes then trying again. If that doesn't clear the error, it's probably the thermistor.

The oven would have to be removed from the wall so the outer wrapper can be removed, then you can remove the sensor and attempt to clean it.A gentle scraping with the toothpick might work, or gently soaking it in hot water. Just be sure it's dry when reinstalled.
