Screen problem When I open the screen on my Compaq Presario up past a 45 degree angle, the screen acts up and distorts the colors. All whites turn pink and are distorted. If I keep the screen opened to less than a 45 degree angle, I can rotate the computer in any direction and the screen stays normal. The notebook is 1 1/2 years old and this problem just started today without warning. Any suggestions?

    Paeroa,
Thank you very much!!! The loose connection was the problem. Unfortunately, now I have another problem. While putting the screen back together I shorted out something in that little rectangular circuit board beneath the bottom of the screen (The one with the thin guage pink and white wires) trying to put the tiny screw back in. It looks like the light on the screen is now blown. Is this repairable or even worth repairing?

Perhaps your connections on the inside have come loose. It may warrant you take it to a specialist to check it over before it gets any worse. Some other person was on here some time ago who had a similar problem and all it was is the switch in the lid. Apparently they tinkered with it by just kept on pushing it back and forwards as if to continue to open it and it came right they tell me that they hardly used it thats why!.

Anything is repairable? All you need to do is examine it a wire may have broken away. Sooo I cant imagine you had tried to put it back together while it was still switch on??????.

Go backwards to where you first thought the wires were loose Im picking if you found it you will figure this one out. Check to see everything is stable by that I mean screwed tight wires all joined where it was loose double check its not gotten loose else where. You know sometimes technicians find faults this way especially when you first start out thats where the fun is and when you find it its like that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Goodluck and come back and tell me how you fared!!!!!
