Cannot connect laptop with the eithernet cord

If you cannot connect your laptop using an Ethernet cable, make sure the laptop's wireless ethernet is disabled. To disable it in window xp, click the Start button and open the Control Panel. Double-click Network Connections. Right-click Wireless Network Connection and select Disable from the drop-down list.

04e3ee0.png If you are using a laptop with Windows Vista, click the Start Button and type Network and Sharing into the Start Search box. Select Network and Sharing Center from the Programs list. Select Manage Network Connections from the left pane of the window. The Network Connections window will open. Click on Wireless Network Connection. Select Disable this Network Device at the top of the window.

9a7c8c6.png Troubleshoot the Network
After disabling the laptop's wireless connection, be sure to restart the computer before trying to connect with the Ethernet cable again. If you still cannot connect the laptop to the network with an Ethernet cable after rebooting, check to make sure there is not a problem with the network itself. If there are others nearby connected to the same network, such as in your office, dorm or another public location, ask them whether they are currently able to connect to the network. If no one else is using the network, contact the system administrator or your Internet service provider to see if there may be an outage. This step can save you plenty of time troubleshooting if there is an outage in your area!
Troubleshoot the Ethernet Cable
If there is no problem with the network itself, the reason that you cannot connect the laptop may be the ethernet cable. Make sure that the Ethernet Cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet. If possible, try connecting the Ethernet cable into another wall jack or port on the router, and then try using a different Ethernet cable. The Ethernet cable you are using may be damaged.

8686681.png Troubleshoot Network Settings
If the Ethernet cable does not seem to be the reason why you cannot connect to the network, check the laptop's network settings. In Windows XP, open the Control Panel and select Network Connections. Open Local Area Connection and check the status of the connection.
In Windows Vista, go to the Network and Sharing Center and select Diagnose and Repair from the left pane and wait for the results.

If the Local Area Connection is listed as Disabled, right-click it and choose Enable.
If it says that the network adapter is unplugged and you have ruled out a problem with the Ethernet cable and port, the laptop's network adapter may have failed. Try using the same Ethernet cable on another computer. If you are able to connect to the network on another computer using the same Ethernet cord, contact the laptop's manufacturer, a computer repair technician or replace the network adapter yourself.

How to repair my bricked HP laptop?

Question moved from Misc category. You will have to do a full reformat and install from Disc or the hidden partition. In most cases the USB support doesn't happen until Windows loads. Laptops have proprietary software for the touchpad, onboard graphics and sound cards, so you have install the original HP Windows 8 software first. Then load your Ford Scan software. Check it works and then do the Windows 10 upgrade.https://www.google.com/search?q=Forscan+damaged+computer..

Hp TouchSmart 310 wont start, power light flashes

The LED light has now turned into a diagnostic light. The fault is a bad Power Supply.Replacing it however, is easier said than done.I don't know what exact model of the Touchsmart 310 series you have.(Examples such as TouchSmart 310-1000Z, or 310-1125f, or 310-1155y, etc.)The TouchSmart 310 series of All-In-One desktop computers, has a battery, and an AC adapter, (Charger), for power.Test the battery with a multimeter set to DC Voltage. {Symbol is a dotted line over a solid line. If there is more than one DC Voltage setting, set it to 0 - 50 Volts }Should be close to 18.5 Volts (DC)Battery is low?Check the AC adapter (Charger)The middle metal cylinder of the plug that goes into the computer, is Positive. The outside metal shell which surrounds it, is Negative.Again, 18.5 Volts (DC)Check both then post back in a Comment.Regards, joecoolvette

Keys qweruiop not working on startup

Take the computer to a qualified technician, who can replace the keyboard, as the least-expensive "try" at trouble-shooting.

Since a keyboard transmits "codes" to the motherboard,
e.g., left-shift-has-been-pressed, and left-shift-has-been-released,
and the motherboard interprets those codes, it is NOT likely that
the motherboard is misinterpreting the codes, especially given that
the "bad' letters are in a straight line on your keyboard.

Find an external USB keyboard, and plug it in.
If it works correctly in the first 15 minutes, then the problem is NOT the motherboard.

HP Pavilion dv6000 plugged in not charging, I have

Its the DC charging jack that you plug the charger into on one of the sides of the laptop. Do a google search, go and search for "HP dv6000 DC jack problem charging" (leave out the quotes) and you will see this is a common issue with the dv6000 and laptops in general. Many will just replace the whole laptop motherboard as the DC jack is attached to the board. If you know what you're doing, you change out the jack, quick repair job and keep your own board, but fixed. I would fix it if it were mine. You may be able to find someone local online but if you need someone to do the repair, I'm in the repair directory, as are many others qualified.

Note: It may come to a point, or the situation may just fit better to replace the entire board instead of the port alone. This is usually when the jack is not seated and easily replaceable, or if you are under warranty, HP will replace the whole board.
