Sometimes you are not able to Uninstall a toolbar locally, not sure about Ask, but there are many that install over time and some don't even know how it got on their computer: lots of times it associated with some kind of xxxWare: Adware, Sypware, Malware, etc.

Try these FREE scanners & removers, if your local attempt does not work.
IObit Malware Fighter
and look for the Advanced System Cleaner as well from the same Iobit family of Free software, they also have upgraded versions at a cost. but the Free ones work very good.
Also try:
Thank you for downloading Malwarebytes Anti Malware
and one more, is a very good scanner & remover for FREE, click the RED Free Edition box.

The trouble with toolbars is they do not completely uninstal using their uninstaller and have a habit of re-installing themselves
Download the 'Revo free uninstaller' using the download button at the bottom of the Freeware column and use the 'Advanced' mode.
The program allows the normal uninstaller to do the job and then checks the registry and system for remnants left behind. any remnants check all the boxes and hit 'Delete all'

I want to get rid of "ASK" and set Google as my hopmepage

Here's how you can get rid of ASK toolbar and set Google as you homepage:
1.To uninstall Ask Toolbar program from Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the "Start" button, then click on the "Control Panel" menu option.
If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select Search from the list and search for "control panel" .Or you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control Panel from there.
2.When the "Control Panel" window opens click on the "Uninstall a program" option under "Programs" category. This option is shown by the arrow in the image below. If you are using the "Classic View" of the Control Panel, then you would double-click on the "Programs and Features" icon instead.
3.When the "Programs and Features" or the "Uninstall a Program" screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall Ask Toolbar, Ask Toolbar Updater, Ask Updater and any other recently installed or unknown programs from your computer. That should uninstall Ask toolbar from your computer. You'll also need to remove extensions from your browsers. Refer to this article which gives detailed instructions on how you can remove Ask toolbar from your browser as well as what to do if you can't remove it:
    http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-ask-toolbar-and-search/
For setting Google as home page, once Ask toolbar has been removed, just open your browser and paste this link in the address bar:
    http://www.google.com/homepage/

It'll automatically detect the browser you're using and give you instructions on how to set Google as your homepage.

Desinstaller toolbar ask

I tried to post this in Spanish for you, but the FixYa website won't allow it, so here's the English version:

How do I uninstall the Toolbar?

You can easily uninstall the Toolbar using the instructions below:

Windows XP:

  1. Close all open Web browsers
  2. From the "Start" menu in Windows, select "Control Panel"
  3. Select "Add/Remove Programs"
  4. Select the program with the Ask logo and the text "Ask Toolbar" (or our partner's brand for a custom Toolbar)
  5. Click "Change/Remove"

Windows Vista:

  1. Close all open Web browsers
  2. From the "Start" menu in Windows, select "Control Panel". Under the "Programs" icon, select "Uninstall a program"
  3. Select the program with the Ask logo and the text "Ask Toolbar" (or our partner's brand for a custom Toolbar)
  4. Click "Uninstall" and then "Continue" to remove the Toolbar

Windows 7:

  1. From your computer's 'Start' button, select 'Control Panel'
  2. Click the "Uninstall a Program" option found under the "Programs" category
  3. Select the program with the Ask logo and the text "Ask Toolbar" (or our partner's brand for a custom Toolbar)
  4. Click 'Remove'

You can also uninstall the toolbar directly from the toolbar

  1. Click on the chevron (down arrow) on the Option button on the toolbar
  2. Select "Uninstall" from the drop down menu
  3. Click "Yes" when asked "Are you sure you want to uninstall this product"
  4. Close all open web browsers
  5. Click "OK" on the popup window

We ask that once you have uninstalled the Ask Toolbar that you reboot your computer to ensure that the uninstall process is complete.

Remove "ask" toolbar

There are two ways to remove the ask.com toolbar from your browser.
1.) On the left-hand side of the toolbar, there is an X which you can click on which will prompt the toolbar to ask you if you're sure you want to do this. Select the affirmative and it should be removed from your browser, however, you'll still have the actual program (it technically IS a progam, though it's an add-n of sorts).
2.) You can uninstall it by going to Add/Remove Programs in Windows XP or by removing it from the Programs and Features list in Vista/Win7. You can get to either of these by clicking Start/Control Panel/ [Add/Remove Programs OR Programs and Features]. Just click on the "ask toolbar" in the list and then click Remove.
If this helps you, please help me by leaving a great rating. I very much appreciate it!
