there are 4 in the series,, SFF, mini, convertable and RPS .
we cant guess what you own, ever. (post the sevice tag data>)
ill answer for SFF, small form factor verison, (so you can learn to use the HP pages , i guess for you)
Ill answser for USA PCs, not others, you never said country, so..
not only that some of these are all AMD processors motherboards.
so no full service tag , no aswers possible.



DC7900 PC Desktop has many (vast) mother boards and BIOS flash updates (5). to each...
only HP actual, can answer this.
where did you find this CPU,?
(best is to first ask what fits first) not buy them and wonder later.
(buy a SSD and run that, for better upgrade! in most cases...hint)

that new processor must match the chip set inside.
(BOTH PCH and ICH versions) NOT Documented set chip numbers , by HP so is
very hard to answser, lacking these facts
I have software that can do PCI scans to see all chips on the mobo and then know what the base chips support.
you cant. unless asked here. and now.
I can disect the PC, all but the BIOS. and learn its base needs.

You need to find out what motherboard it is. Then, see if that motherboard can handle that processor.
