The lcd power inverter may need replaing. It is a piece that, if it goes out the screen is dim or too dark to see. The above is right. Check with external and if you see the screen then the video card is good. And you should try replacing the inverter before the LCD. Sig
Try pressing Fn-F4 a couple times. Sometimes people accidentally enable the external screen and disable the internal one. If this doesn't work, try plugging an external screen in. If the external works then you might have a dead display.
