First thing to do is look on your laptop... all the way around the sides, for a network switch... most newer laptops have one to switch your wireless on and off...
if none or is on:
go to your control panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager
and see if your network card is giving off an error or is working properly..
from there you can uninstall the driver and reinstall it, or update it..
if that still doesnt help... reset your router, refresh and renew your ip....(open Start/Run...type CMD... then type ipconfig /release.... then type ipconfig /renew
then click on the network icon in your control panel and try reconnecting to your network... readding your ssid and wep key if necessary...
