I was vacuuming the stairs, and all of a sudden the light went out and the motor stopped. Is it possible to overheat it, or blow a fuse? Thanks, Brigham

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Oreck XL2200 Bagged Upright Vacuum. It sounds to me that when the lights go out and it stops working that the motor is bad that you would have to replace the motor. It is still cheaper to replace the motor than to purchase a new vacuum. you can use 1 of 3 types of bags.
First one is the genuine sharp bag. paper bag they usually come 3 to a package.
Second is a Panasonic vacuum bag. They are a little more common to find.
Third is a Sears/Kenmore bag # 50680, #50688, #50690 all three numbers there are the same bag.
First two are available at any vac shop or sharp/panasonic dealer in your area. Last one is only available at sears.

Has new belt, husband made sure roller was clean, has new bag. Was using it and I shut it off to move to another room, and light comes on, but absolutely nothing else.
