Belt keeps comming ooff

The belt may need replaced. A new belt can pull on the motor if the motor is not secure in the vacuum body. If it pulls the motor shaft it can cause the belt to come off.

I have a Sharp EC-TU4607 vacuum with a handle wont stay in locked position. Pressing on the release lever at the base doesn't seem to trigger anything so I'm not sure if a part broke off.

The thermal trip on the motor is unfortunately not s resettable unit, it requires disassembly and replacement to fix. Usually this means the unit is due for replacement

Moter gets hot Sharp vacuum # NV350E

Check to see if there is an obstruction in the hose. Sometimes the lower section gets blocked and when there is no or little air flow the motor will heat up.
