Are you leaving enough time for the water to heat up to a sufficient temperature? Typically 20 minutes is needed to ensure good steam flow.

Expobar leaking steam

Where is it leaking steam from? If it is from the porta-filter, you need to replace the group head gasket, which is done with something like a screwdriver to get it out.

Hissing vent and steam coming out of back upper area of machine can I fix it myself

Hi... It sounds like something may/could have become disconnected. I wouldn't hesitate to take the back off... the problem should 'in this case' be obvious.
