a large number of older games do not work on vista, they are incompatible, you can either download the patch from the games site, which i see youve tried and it did not work, in this case, try to run the program in windows xp SP2 mode. to do this, fidn the application or executive file, it will have .exe at the end of the filename or will say application, then right click it, properties, compatibility, then check the box to run in compatibility mode for:, then choose for Windows XP (Service Pack 2), use those settings then try it again, if it still doesnt work then you simple can not use that game on vista. your last option you can try has a small risk of virus, only because it is user created, but seacrh the internet for a patch that allows it to work on vista. some people make their own patches to allow the program to work on vista.
Why the jumpiness?
pls try to re-install the game and if it is still like that you better check the settings of the game or they maybe some corrupted files in the game folder..

Try 'rebooting' the drive. There's a tiny computer inside the drive that controls the laser, motor, the works. Sometimes it needs to be rebooted. The only way to do it is to remove power from the drive then plug it back in. If it is external, flip the power switch or unplug the cables for a bit then try again. you repeat the process, one jar of grain spawn can produce up to ten
more.
